Title: Buffalo terastation ii 4TB TS-RHTGL/R5 replacement Drives
Post by: JamesBrown on January 30, 2013, 09:45:40 AM

Hello,

I have several of these boxes which are 4TB in total (x4 1 TB Drives) and i need to increase the capacity without buying a completely new box.

Can I replace all of the drives at once with x4 2TB drives instead and keep the settings on the box the same or is the settings/operating system stored on the RAID?

I know the data on the box will disappear because there on the original drives but basically when i put the new drives in will it setup like its a brand new box and setting up new drives?

Thanks in advance

James

Once you replace the HDDs follow FAQ 3 of 5 in the storage section on the forum to reflash the boot image partition, this will then put the unit into EM mode and you then just reinstall the firmware. All the settings on the unit will be then set to factory default.

Can i backup the settings at all to import them again afterwards?
