My Buffalo Ministation Plus 1TB is not lighting up, and doesn't show on My Computer or even on the Device Manager. I tried plugging it to different usb ports, as well as to 2 Windows desktop and a Windows laptop but to no avail. I can feel and hear the disk spinning/working, but there's no light (blue nor green).
To give some background, my Ministation Plus is about a year old. It hasn't been bumped, dropped or anything. Earlier this day, it was working fine when plugged to my laptop. I then plugged it to desktop 1 to transfer some files and it was still working. When I plugged it to desktop 2 (which has just been repaired), it didn't work. I thought the usb port of that desktop had a problem, but it turns out to be perfectly fine (tested with a flash drive). When I plugged back my Ministation Plus to my laptop, it wasn't working anymore.
I'm thinking that maybe I should try replacing the cable. But if cable's the problem, why is the disk still spinning?
I desperately need help!!! Anyone who knows what might be the problem and solution? I have about 150GB of files that I can't afford to lose! :((
replace the USB cable, there are two internal parts, one for data and one for power, the data part might be damaged hense why it is still spinning up.
Also, if you "can't afford to lose" files then you should always have a backup!! :-/
Thanks! I'll actually get a new cable later and hope that it works. And yes, I should've made a back-up. >.< I'll make sure to do it once I get my ministation running again.
I replaced the cable but it still doesn't work. I also tried using my cable on my friend's ministation and it worked perfectly fine. Have anyone also experienced this? Can I still do something to revive my ministation?
