Title: LS-WVL Questions
Post by: psp83 on January 28, 2013, 10:22:51 AM

Hey.

I bought a LS-WVL today because my other NAS drive is faulty and outside warranty.

On the box of the LS-WVL is says compatible with windows 8, the software supplied, e.g. novaBACKUP is not compatible with windows 8, it errors out on install.

Is there a free upgrade for this? if not, I will just upgrade my version of Acronis.

Also, if a hard drive fails.. do you just turn the unit of, replace the hard drive and the unit rebuilds it when powered on again ? or do you have to do it through the control panel ?

you need version 14 of Novastor to install it on Windows 8. See the below link

http://www.buffalotech.com/support-and-downloads/downloads

Type LS-WV into the search bar and look for the Novastor software near the end of the downloads section.

You need to authenticate with your serial number (assigning you are from the US)

Apologies for the bump, but I just picked up a LS-WV4.0TL/R1 and that downloads page for it doesn't show Novastor at all, let alone version 14 (though, to be fair, the box it comes in makes no mention of Win 8 compatibility either.)

The included version of Novastor is v 13.0 Build 10.

Did I just buy a "Windows 7 Only" version here?

EDIT: I do see version 12 there now, but not version 14.

Is that not an available download for my unit ??
