Title: Drive Station Quad RAID 1 ummmmm....
Post by: hjk4300 on January 22, 2013, 11:52:49 PM

With 4x2TB drives, I requested RAID 1 from setup.  I expected 2 mirror sets of 2x2TB drives each, resulting in 2 separate drive letters, and a total of approx 4TB storage.  Instead I get one drive letter, and one partition of approx 4TB.

Would somebody explain this to me.  My concern is that I don't have the max possible protection enabled for the data.  I don't want this to be a RAID 10 or RAID 01.  In those configs, if you lose the "wrong" 2 drives concurrently, you lose "all" your data.  But with 2x2TB RAID 1, losing the "wrong" 2 drives will lose you at Most "half" your data.  What's really happening here?
