Title: Linkstation Quad Pro backup errors.. please help
Post by: jramilo08 on January 09, 2013, 02:05:23 AM

We have a Linkstation Pro Quad(LS-QV4.0TL) running on firmware 1.56 and a Linkstation Live (2 TB / LS-X2.0TL) on 1.62. All of my files are stored in the Pro Quad and yesterday i bought the Live one to be the backup. Before i have a usb hardrive directly plug in to the Pro Quad as a backup. It works perfectl until it gave up.

Now that i setup the Linkstation Live as the backup, its giving me some problems. First when i go to the backed up folder it wont let me.. I can access the linkstation>backup drive>_backups> but beyond this folder everthing is locked. It doesnt allow me the open the backed up folders.

Also, i check the backup logs and i get these results..

-------- BEGIN BACKUP 2013/01/09 11:15:13 array1/Conveyancing -> Link_Station2@disk1/Backup --------
sending incremental file list
created directory /_backups
./
rsync: read error: Connection timed out (110)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(794) [sender=3.0.3]
-------- END BACKUP 2013/01/09 11:30:48 array1/Conveyancing -> Link_Station2@disk1/Backup --------

I've been using Buffalo Pro Quad for over a year and I don't understand why its giving me these errors.. I tried restarting the Pro Quad before the backup but still the same log errors are being generated.. Any help would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks

I'm struggling with almost the identical symptoms when attempting to do disk backups between Linkstation Pro Duo and and Linkstation Pro.

I've been wresting with this on and off for a couple of weeks and searching forums.

All I can determine (in my case) is that there is a time-out issue which appears to be related to the number of files.  Both devices are connected on 100Mb ethernet (wired connection) and a test disk backup of a newly created share with a handful of test files completes without any issue.

What I'm wondering is whether anyone knows if there are any parameters that might allow the "building file list" process to complete??

-------- BEGIN BACKUP 2013/01/08 15:51:19 array1/Data -> Home-NAS2@disk1/HOME-NAS1-Backup --------
building file list ...
rsync: read error: Connection timed out (110)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(614) [sender=2.6.8]
-------- END BACKUP 2013/01/08 16:07:00 array1/Data -> Home-NAS2@disk1/HOME-NAS1-Backup --------

I've currently got in the region of only 7,000 files in one of the shared folders which I'm failing to backup and 22,000 in the other (but accept if the 7,000 doesn;t work then the 22,000 isnt going to either!)

Any brains out there with ideas?
