Title: Linkstation live error on backup
Post by: bhpizarro on January 06, 2013, 11:48:02 AM

I've been trying to perform a backup from a linkstation live to a Seagate drive that is attached via the USB port. The backup never completes and I receive an error message on the home page of the utility. How can I read what the error is so I can maybe troubleshoot it?

What file format is the USB HDD?

I just signed into the utility to check on the format and this is what's listed under the USB Disk info;

Total Capacity     Not Obtained

File Format          Not Obtained

I think my Seagate hard drive went on permanent vacation. Has anyone ever seen this?

This drive has been installed and used as the only back up to the Linkstation for five years (at least 5 years). A few weeks ago the Linkstation never completed a back up operation,. It was stuck in a perpetual back up operation that a hard reboot wouldn't end. I had to perform an initialization and then a format of the Seagate drive. A successful backup was never completed. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

Bob

Again, what is the file format of the USB HDD?

Again, I can't tell. The previous post reads exactly what I see in the utility.

I set this drive up 5 years ago and don't remember what format it's in. If you have a method to find this information then I'm listening.

then try to reformat the HDD via the admin page to XFS and rerun the backup. Also, what model and firmware are you using?
