Title: HELP PLEASE! 2 Issues With New MiniStation Thunderbolt (1 TB) (HD-PATU3)
Post by: nyujay on January 06, 2013, 08:50:19 AM

Hello All,

I just bought a new MiniStation Thunderbolt (1 TB) (HD-PATU3) and unfortunately experiencing a problem with the Thunderbolt wire.  When I plug it in the screen on my MacBook Air goes blue for a second and then returns back to the desktop.  The same thing happens when I unplug the Thunderbolt wire.  Anyone else have this problem and are there any solutions?  The USB works fine as the disk icon appears on my desktop.

I also had a question regarding formatting the drive.  Is this necessary?  Pardon my ignorance as I am not a techie but for now I am able to simply transfer files from my MacBook Air to the backup drive by dragging the original files onto the icon.  The files then transfer and appear on the backup drive.  Is this OK or should I be formatting the drive (as listed in the instructions) before backing up any drives?

Thank you all very much in advance for your responses.

Jason
