Ok, here it goes...
I just received a new Linkstation LS-WVL4.0TL/R1. I turned everything on and within 20 seconds, I noticed the Info/Error light started flashing Red. It will flash 6x then stop for a second or two and start up again. All of my research prior to buying this pointed to that not being normal, but I figured I would install the software and see what happens. Unfortunately, the software wouldn't install because it couldn't find the NAS (I did get NAS Navigator installed but it can't find the device).
After doing a lot of research on the forums, it turns out to be a corrupted firmware. Ok, no problem. I can update to the latest one I found at the download section (1.64). I loaded up LSUpdater only to have it spit out an error right away saying it can't find the Linkstation.
After more reading, I decided to try the TFTP guide (even though there is not one for my model yet) and saved the latest firmware 1.64 into the same folder as TFTP. I switched my IP to the static IP and loaded up TFTP. I turned on the NAS device and it started serving the blocks. I figured I was on to something here. After about 10-20 seconds, the blocks were served and the NAS reboots. The power light starts flashing then boom...back to the Info/Error flashing 6x.
I tried running LSUpdater (after I edited the ini with the Debug option) but it still can't find the Linkstation....
I deal with computers on a daily basis, so I have very tech savvy, but I can not for the life of me figure this out. I haven't contacted tech support yet as I figured I would give the forums a chance.
Any help? Ideas??
I'm not even going to waste anymore time on this. I spent a good 8 hrs trying to fix this with no luck.
I'm sending it back to Amazon for a replacement.
