Title: Cloudstation Vs Windows 8
Post by: SingaporeSling on January 02, 2013, 07:07:44 AM

I own Buffalo Cloudstation CS-X1 (I think). The unit is less than 1 year old and I access it via the Pogoplug software. I have eventually been able to get set up using Windows XP on a laptop and Pogoplug Android app on my phone to access my files.

I have just bought a Windows 8 laptop and I cannot get access via the normal log in. I can log in and see my folders and files, but when I click on files nothing happens.

I emailed Buffalo and have been told the device is discontinued with no plans for Winsows 8 updates. I think this is shockingly bad support and would like to know if anyone else using a Cloudstation has been having similar problems, have they managed to resolve the problems ?

Can you map the drive in the conventional sense? ie \\IP\ShareName?

Hi

Thanks for your reply. I am not sure what it means though, I am firmly at the non-tech end of users and bought this device so I could access files remotely whilst overseas.

What I can do is this :

Using the internet connection and "mycloudstation" web address, I can log into my device and see files etc (on Windows XP). I can do exaclty the same with Windows 8 laptop yet the files will not open up. Things like JPEG, MP4 etc etc
