To safeguard my data, I copied the data of two of my NAS HDDs to my Mac OS X Mountain Lion (HFS+) backup disk of 3TB using UFSExplorer.
When I tried to copy it back to the NAS (XFS) I got an "The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50).
I just started using Mac two weeks so I'm not fully familiar with its abilities but I feel it has to do with hidden Apple Files and Apple Folders.
- Is there a way how I can copy the data without those files and folders? I cannot do it manually as it's about 2 million files and nested folders.
- What is the right procedure to back up (mostly PC) files from the NAS to an external drive on the Mac and how can I easily copy them back from backup to NAS later if needed.
I'm using a 4 bay external storage that has USB3 so I can't really plug it in to the Buffalo NAS or do a backup from within the Web Admin.

This is my most important question. I want to get my data back on the network so can someone help me on how to copy this data back to the NAS?

I managed to find a solution. I'm using Folder Sync on Mac.
It allows to exclude .AppleDouble folders and .DS_Store files when copy my files back to the NAS the way they were before.
