Title: Can't See NAS without NAS Navigator
Post by: eluquis on December 26, 2012, 12:45:45 PM

I have a brand new Link Station Dual Link Server which I setup on a small network. I installed NAS Navigator on my laptop and setup the Dual link with a static IP on the same Subnet as the other computers. I then access the NAS and map drives on the other 2 computers on the network with no problem. Then I shut down my laptop and within a minute the other 2 computers can not access the NAS. I then boot up my laptop and then the other 2 computers can access the NAS..

So my question is do I need to install NAS Navigator on the other 2 PCs in order for them to access the NAS across the Network? Or should this work with out Navigator and I need to do something else?

sounds like your linkstation has the ON/Auto/Off switch in Auto mode. In Auto mode, the linkstation receives a keep-alive signal from NAS-Navi. Once the computer with NAS-Navi is shutdown, the Linkstation shuts down.  Either load Nas-Navi onto your other computers or move the switch to ON.
