Title: Novice User Alert! Trying to attach a Seagate USB Hardrive for storage...having issues
Post by: jmarmara on December 25, 2012, 06:36:22 PM

Hello,

I am trying to use my Seagate USB Hard Drive as a sort of "cloud" for our home network.  I have never done this before, and clearly I need a little more training in this matter.  I have done the following:

In the USB menu under "Services"  I have:

ENABLED Core USB Support

DISABLED USB Printer Spport

ENABLED USB Storage Support

Enabled Automatic Drive Mount

It has found the Disk, and listed a bunch of information in the Disk Info Box.

I have also done the following in the NAS menu:

ENABLED ProFTPD

ENABLED "Allow Write"

and I have entered a:

Username

Password

in the User Password list as per the instructions in the Manual.

I have also ENABLED Samba File Sharing

I am not sure what else to do? I run the USB software that comes with the router and it won't find the attached USB device (but the light on the back of the router says its working).  I also can't find it anywhere in my normal computer Menus (Start > Computer or Start > Computer> Network).

What am I missing? Thanks!
