Title: WEB Admin & Torrent Download Manager Hacked
Post by: PaulinTexas on December 23, 2012, 01:40:03 PM

Linkstation LS-VL 2 Firmware 1.64 - Windows 7, IE 9

Two days ago I tried to access my local web admin screen and a dispaly of russian language characters appeared.  I loaded firmware version 1.64 and gave me access once again to the admin screen.

Again today, the same thing happened.  I forced an update of 1.64, it restored access to the admin screen, but now when I go to the torrent download manager I once again see russian language characters.  (9090/gui).  I turned off torrent, reinitialized the settings and it didn't help.

1.  Any idea on how to fix/repair access to the download manager.

2.  Suggestions on how to identify the hacker and prevent further access?

Thanks - Paul

I found the fix action for the #1 issue with the download manager using the following uTorrent WebUI guide "Freeze on loading or garbage data displayed?" section.

http://www.utorrent.com/help/guides/webui

To clear the garbage/Russian character font, I went to Extensions, BitTorrent, Open Download Manager:

-       Entered the download manager password – at this point the garbage/Russian character font appeared

-       Pressed CTRL+F5 and the normal BitTorrent Download Manager appeared

Still looking for help with #2.
