Title: Share Files With Others
Post by: Ringfinger on December 04, 2012, 08:42:02 AM

I have my web access set up fine and it works great from my iPhone as well as when I access remotely from a laptop.  I have it set up that I can access everything on the NAS that I have, unlimited, upload and download.  Now, that is great for me, however, I want to share some files with someone else, but only grant them read access to the files.  Nothing else, they can't access my entire NAS no it's contents.

I did look through the guide pinned above  but could not quite discren how to do it.  All I want to do is set up a folder on the NAS that has some files in it that a remote user could access.  I don;t want to give them the password to my entire share that I have access to, just that one folder.  How do I do this?

right click on the file in web access -> Share files -> This will create a link that you can email to someone and allow them to download the file/s you want.

It can't be that simple.  Add some difficulty!

I appreciate it.  For once something simple.  Now, they can only read, not write?  Also, is there a timeframe that they have and can I discontinue the link?

They will only be able to download the file so wont be able to write to the share at all, when you right click on the file and click share link a popup will appear for how many days you want to share the file for.
