Hi all,
My Linkstation Duo has gone into EM mode, and I am not sure how to get it back to normal again.
The cause may be our washing machine blowing the fuse and sending out a power surge - I discovered the Linkstation outage a few hours after the washing machine incident. (Not sure about the moving parts, so unsure whether this is possible/likely at all).
I've switched the LS off and on a couple of times, and all LEDs light up the way they should - the blue Power LED on the front is on constantly after a bit of initial flashing; the LAN led on the back is on too.
Now, would you reckon that a firmware upgrade/reinstall could restore the LS, or is it more likely that physical damage has been done to its circuits (I guess not, as all LEDs are on, as mentioned).
In case a firmware reinstall is required, can I do this without erasing the data on the actual hard drives? I must admit that my back up strategies are somewhat lacking, so there is data on those drives that I'd like to keep.
Your advice on this will be much appreciated!
Best,
Søren
Reinstall the firmware to resolve the issue. This is normal after a power outage.
Davo - many thanks. Just reinstalled the firmware, and the LS works fine again, all my stuff intact. Somewhat intrigued that a power outage can throw the whole thing off.
Again - thanks for your help.
