Title: LS-XL won't communicate
Post by: Egroot27 on December 03, 2012, 01:34:34 PM

Hi guys,

I recently bought a Linkstation live and tried to set it up at home, but failed.

NasNavigator 2 recognized my device, but then it gives the message:

"NAS cannot communicate. Change it to a right IPaddress automatically."

If i then click ok, it says: "Tried to change IPaddress, but failed."

I have tried to set it up at another network at a friends and it works fine there.

My router at home has the adres http://192.168.2.254

My linkstation has the adress http://192.168.10.138

I hope someone knows how to get my Linkstation working.

Thanks!

right click on the picture of the Linkstaton in the Nas Navigator -> properties -> Change the IP address using to 192.168.2.100 -> Apply -> Enter admin password.

I have already tried that. If I try that, i get a message saying: "Failed to authorize password, NAS cannot communicate".

Any other ideas?

Erik

Nope, needs to be done from a Windows OS.

I have tried to run the NAS recovery on a windows laptop but this didnt work either.

When I started the program, it just said "Detecting NAS...NG"

and then "Aborted."

I cannot select my NAS as if the program cannot find it. However, NASnavigator does find my NAS, but again it has a really weird IP adress, my router is 192.168.2.254 and the NAS has 192.168.10.138

Because I have a linkstation live, the only way to change the password is in the webinterface, which i cannot access because I dont know the password.

Is there something else I can do?

Thanks

connect the Linkstation directly to the PC via network cable, disable Wifi on the PC, set an IP on the PC to 192.168.10.100, disable anto virus and firewall software and run the recovery tools again.

Worth  a shot!
