Title: Link Station Duo - Enclosure Model LS-WXL/E firmware updating
Post by: juddnetcafe on December 03, 2012, 03:15:03 AM

Hello Guys,

New to Buffalo NAS

I just bought this enclosure w/o HD http://www.buffalo-asia.com/cgi-bin/products/detail.cgi?country=hk&code=8&id=410

At first, Link Navigator can't detect the unit but using the NAS Navigator allows me to see it's status, which is in Emergency Mode.

Just would like to confirm that do I need a HD in place so I can update it's firmware?

Does the NAS doesn't come with its own rom where it holds its firmware? If this is true, then everytime I change HD, do I go into some procedure that involves updating the firmware?

I asked these questions because when I run the LSUpdater.exe and click on the Update button, it has this notice.

"Partition not found. Aborting firmware upate.

Hope to hear from you guys

Yes, you need a HDD to reinstall the firmware

Thanks davo!

I have a HD related Q here: http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Wireless/External-WD-HD-NTFS-to-FAT32-so-it-will-be-detected-using-WZR-HP/td-p/111900

Maybe you're familiar with this query.
