Title: NAS TS-RXL Authentication via AD Issues
Post by: jisherwood on November 29, 2012, 07:17:18 PM

I have the nas synced to AD, that all worked fine.  It pulls my users and groups, and I am able to assign them permissions to my various folders, again works fine.

The first issue, is that the NAS does not like new user accounts in AD.  We hire someone, I create an account for them in AD, I go into the nas, find that persons new account, grant them access to the NAS drives, but it tells them "the specificed network password is not correct." I have checked their passwords and tested it on dummy accounts.  I have re-synced with AD and restarted the NAS.  Nothing seems to work, even though dozens of other uses can connect without issue with their AD credentials.

The second issue I found while trying to fix the first.  While connected to the NAS, if any changes are made all the current users lose their access to the NAS.  I believe this is intended behavior, but the users are then not able to re-authenticate.  Using their login/password results in the same error as above, even though the user was just accessing files with the same credentials.  If the user logs off and back in, they are then able to access the NAS as expected.

Update to this.  Once a change has been made, and the user loses his authentication and can't get back in...

If the user navigates to the nas via IP address instead of the name, access works.  If using the name, access is denied with the previous issue.  If the user logs off and back in, access is granted again (assuming they are not a new user)

Also, if the user is a new user, the error changes based on using an IP or not.  Using an IP address the user gets Access denied.  Using the server name they get invalid network password.
