Title: Failed HDD on Terastation TS-RHTGL/R5 F/W 1.33
Post by: wiredguy on November 20, 2012, 04:35:52 AM

Hi, one of my HDD's on my TS-RHTGL/R5 F/W 1.33 Raid5 4x500GB has failed.

I'm unable to source a 500GB drive and was wondering if this can be replaced with a larger HDD - I realise the additional capacity can't be used.

I can do this with my Dell arrays, but I'm unsure if this is possible on the Buffalo.

I searched the boards but can't see this question being asked before - apologies if I've overlooked it.

Many Thanks

Yes this is possible, jkust match the specs from the original HDD (apart from size of course)

Thanks for your prompt reply - much appreciated.

Does this mean the tranfer rate also has match - the current drives are rate at 3Gb/s while new drives all seem to be 6Gb/s

no, just match the rpm and cache, also try and get a drive that is 512bytes as i dont know how this unit would work (if at all) with a HDD that has 2k sector sizes. However, this would only apply for HDDs >= 2TB.
