Title: Win32 error: 112 Not enough space in disc.
Post by: danielkzlai on November 16, 2012, 09:57:17 AM

I'm using your Buffalo external hard disc and I think the model number is HD-PCT500U3/B-AP, I encountered the error Win32 error: 112 Not enough space in disc while trying to move/copy simple files (4gb and 5gb) but they both failed with the same error when the copy was about to finish.

I tried to copy another 20gb file into the external hard disc and it had no problem with it. It also had no problem with 2gb files.

Please give me some resolutions about the error.

EDIT: I have 320gb free space on the external hard disc.

What file format is it? FAT32 or NTFS?

you would need to reformat the HDD is NTFS to accomodate files larger than 4GB

Will reformating affect all my files currently stored in the external hard disc?

Also, it can receive files larger than 4gb, (For eg, my 20gb file) just that 4gb, 5gb, 7gb files can't be moved in. Odd.

Reformatting will erase all your files ,back them up before format.

If you format it in NTFS, you will have problems wiht files  larrger than 4gb.

What? Does that mean my hard disc will have problems anyway? FAT32 or NTFS will have their own problems?

I can gaurantee you that the 20GB of files you say you successfully transfered did not contain a single file that was larger than 4GB.

Realborat is mistaken, NTFS does not have any file size transfer limitation.

So my hard disc will probably be back to normal if I copy out all my files, reformat the hard disc into NFTS format, and put them back in, am I right?

Thank you a lot! Though I don't know what is wrong with the file format system, still, thanks! :)

Davo is right, What I was trying to say If you format it with NTFS you will NOT have problems with files larger than 4.GB.

Should have proof read it before I posted it, My Bad.
