Title: Terastation TS-8VHL -- Failed Firmware Update
Post by: helpmenow on November 14, 2012, 02:26:16 PM

All,

We have a terastation that underwent a series of unfortunate accidents and an attempted recovery was performed by reflashing the firmware.  I was given the task of attempting to get the unit to be responsive once again.

If I attach a monitor to the unit, it stops at the following:

fwupdate.sh:FW update start

mount: mounting /dev/md1 on root_splx failed:  No such file or directory

ls: etc/conf_save.d/: No such file or directory

umount: forced umount of root_splx failed!

umount: cannong umount root_splx: Invalid argument

mkdir: cannot create directory '/rootfs': File exists

1000+0 records in

1000+0 records out

make2fs 1.40.5 (27-Jan-2008)

/dev/md1 is not a block special device.

Proceed anyway? (y,n)

After this point, the unit becomes completely unresponsive.  It accepts no keyboard input and the LED display simply reads "F/W updating"

I am uncertain on how to attempt a recovery from this point.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!
