I purchased a 1TB linkstation Duo (LS-WXLE6A) from Amazon yesterday and as it will be used to backup my coding work, I want the NAS in RAID 1. The drive came in RAID 0 so I proceeded to format the drives to normal mode, created a RAID 1 Array and then thats when my issues arose. The drive wasn't accessible and the only option I had under the Storage section of the settings was to create EDP on the array. Excuse my ignorance but while I am quite computer savvy, I am not familiar with this term! So assuming whatever EDP is I needed to do it I click the link to start the process and every single time it will get to 15/20% and then fail and I have to log back in.
Incase anything went wrong when creating the Array I decided to format it back to factory defaults but it is taking an absurdy long time (over 18 hours and it is about 2/3 of the way done), this isn't normal is it?!
Also I can't install the bundled Novabackup software on my new Windows 8 laptop but everytime I try to install it I am given a message that a program run as part of the setup did not finish. I have sent Nova a support ticket about this but am hoping somebody else has a solution.
Not a great experience so far. 2 of the 3 reasons that I went for that NAS aren't working out the box (the other reason is the web access feature).
I am running firmware version 1.60... Any help appreciated!
FW1.63 Available, as you are 1.60 best way for you to download the FW from buffalo-technology.com/support/downloads on to your desktop, make sure firewall and antivirus s disabled and run it. Shouldn`t take long. But, I would I utally use faq(2of 5) to debug and select all choices to have a nice clean slate after the FW update
Thanks for your help, I did actually check from within the web interface and it said 1.60 was the latest available. The formatting is still on fill 3/4 17%, am I safe to close the browser or will it mess up the process?
What is the capacity and the full model name of the link station?
I have discovered that I can't stop the formatting so short of turning the power off I am going to have to wait until it finishes tomorrow.
The Model is the Linkstation Duo 2TB (2 x 1TB drives) and according the web interface the name is LS-WXLE6A.
Updated to 1.63 and it worked first time, thanks a lot. Now to get Novabackup working!
