Title: LS-X2.0TL 2TB LinkStation - Upgradeable?
Post by: osterac on November 05, 2012, 01:26:33 PM

I was looking at buying a LS-X2.0TL 2TB LinkStation from newegg and I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade the drive. I know there is no function button on the back, but I read in another forum post that there is one on the board. Could this work for upgrading to a new drive? If so how large? Is this the best NAS for this price range (up to $200)? I like that the Buffalo NAS devices have an app for my windows phone, although I will probably get an android in January.

I plan on using it to back up files, access/stream files/media remotely, and for DLNA and related. Will this NAS work with an Xbox 360? I know it works with PS3. Just curious more than anything, I don't even have one, and I'm more likely to get a PS3 (my cousin has one I might be able to fix).

If the device is not upgradeable, would you still recommend it? It seems like a good deal to me. Would it even be a good idea to upgrade it down the road, or better just to buy a new one?

Thanks

if you are talking about upgrading HDD after warranty runs out, it supports up to 3TB HDD.

However, even if LS X will do what you are looking for, I personnaly recommend LS-WVL can upgrade to 8TB

Thanks, good to know. I'll consider the LS-WVL. It looks like it would come to a little over $200 with a 2TB hard drive, we'll see if I can manage.
