Title: Linkstation LS-QVL disk 1 & 2 error
Post by: kja002 on October 28, 2012, 05:53:44 AM

I have a Linkstation LS-QVL with 4 disk and RAID 5 configuration.

The front cover is attached with magnets. I removed the front cover to clean out some small amount of dust. When I replaced the front cover, the cover jumped at its place and the drive started to do something with the disks. After a while I got error on drive 1 and drive 2.

After rebooting I got the same error.

I removed them and connected them trough a SATA - USB adapter to my windows PC. Nothing wrong with the drives, windows find a lot of disks on the HDD. I didnt write or read anything from the disk, but Windows 7 might have done something?

I put the HDD's back to the buffalo and now they are working, BUT they are not part of Array1 they are in status removed.

So now all my data seems to be lost when two drives got status damaged, even both drives are working, the linkstation hovever don't recognise them.

Any idea how to continue. I know all data on them are there and ahould be ok.

I had the drive in for analysis and now it does not start anymore.

At startup the led is blinkin red six times, when the irmware should be loaded.

Unable to add firmware and unable to ping the device

Is there a way to reinstall the firmware?

Have tried to foce the firmware update (debug mode), but since devie can't be found on net, this is not possible.

Can it be done on a PC, since I'm now unable to access the Linkstation. Or how can it be forced to be installed on the device.

I have no need to recover any data from the disk anymore, this data is gone.

I have followed the procedre described under FAQ (2 of 5): Force Firmware update procedure

Hello, have done the TFTP part with TFTP Boot Recovery LS-QTL 1.04, my model is LS-QV4.0TL/R5-EU.

I don't get it to work and the readme states this bootrecover should be the one to use.

((Linkstation Quad: black casing, 4 disks, model number of the form LS-Qx.xTL/R5, Download "TFTP Boot Recovery LS-QTL 1.04.exe"))

I have also commented this under the FAQ(3of5).

Should I also format or replace the old two disks to have all four empty?
