Title: LS-X1.0TL Persistent Shutdown failure - Restore only temporary cure
Post by: BGAird on October 23, 2012, 04:38:37 AM

I'm reporting a persistent shutdown failure with Firmware 1.62.

We know the drive has received the shutdown command because the blue light flashes (continuously in fault mode) , but it cannot complete the shut down

The temporary cure is to perform a Default Restore. However, shutdown only works for a while before getting stuck at the 'blue flashing light stage' again.
Power Down/Power Up always works to wake the drive.

It this fault on the LinkStation bug list as unresolved?

Thanks

After another couple of restores port 9000 is now absent.

Here's an edited result of a Zenmap scan:

      Scanning LS-XL30B.home (192.168.1.72) [1000 ports]

Discovered open port 139/tcp on 192.168.1.72

Discovered open port 80/tcp on 192.168.1.72

Discovered open port 8873/tcp on 192.168.1.72
Discovered open port 548/tcp on 192.168.1.72

Wthout port 9000, it isnt possible to setup port forwarding for WebAccess

This NAS is taking a lot of fixit time over the year or so I've owned it and this is the second time this defect has occured - it was like this out of the box in fact. Restore used to fix it. I will try re-flashing again as a last hope and report back. Is there anything newer than 1.62 in the pipeline?

Reflash not possible due to version guard.

How do I force a reflash?

Thanks

enable the debug options on the firmware update (the .ini file) and select "Do not check version" and "Force Update"

Full instructions are in FAQ 2 of 5 in the storage section.

Done.

reflash forced OK

WebAcess enabled, port 9000 present.

Will test timer and functionality again.

The shutdown command worked just once after the reflash. The timer uses the same command and so doesn't work either.

Clearly I can't keep reflashing the drive every day.

Is this a hardware fault or a software fault?

If hardware should I RA it?

Thanks

Brian
