Title: Linkstation LS-CH2 - slow torrent speeds
Post by: omniscian on October 19, 2012, 12:58:42 PM

Hi,

I have been using the Linkstation for around 9 months now and never had a problem with it. I was getting download speeds on the bit torrent client of around 700/800kb/s which is close to what I was seeing on my desktop.

However, the past few weeks, the speeds have dropped dramatically to maximum 10kb/s. The only thing I have done is upgrade the firmware to 1.61. Apart from that, nothing has changed. The Linkstation is plugged directly into my router, it has DMZ on the router. I have checked the IP address and it hasn't changed.

Can anyone help me as to why my speeds have suddenly dropped?

Thanks,

Ian

Hi,

Thanks for your response. I have restored the device but I'm still maxxing out at around 10kb/s. Should the restore downgrade the firmware to factory defaults as it's still on 1.61?

Thanks,

Ian

Ok I have restored my LinkStation to firmware 1.60. My downloads speeds are still around 10kb/s but my upload speeds have shot up to into the 100's kb/s.

Any other ideas?

Bump? I'm still no further forward with this. My speeds are now around 30kb/s and I'm not happy at all with the performance of it.

are you getting the same speeds from your desktop?

is it possible your ISP has throttled your connection?

mine has a download cap during peak hours, 9am-9pm. so i set the scheduler to only download during this time.

i just had a similar problem actually.

ran a speed test and it returned a consistent 15Mbitss but torrents were topping out at 10kBs.

heres what i did

-copy the files from the _active torrents directory. and the _torrent_files into another folder on the drive.

-go into web admin and disable the bit torrent client.

-click on initialize bittorrent settings,

-re enable bittorrent client.

-move the files back to the _active folder

-re-add the torrents through the web ui.

-make sure they force- recheck.

that worked for me.
