Hello, 

We bought a new Terrastation TS-RIX 4.0TL/R5 because of the 2  GB nic`s. We want it to contain our Datastores (Vm ware, ESXi 5.1). 

Now that we are copying the iso`s we see that the transfer speed is around the 6 a 7mb per second, this is not a workable situation.

We already removed the Cisco switch (managed fiber switch) and connected the Buffalo directly to the server (1GB nic). We should be able 

to get transfer speeds around the 75 / 90 mb per second but we cannot go over the 6/7 mb...

We are on the latest firmware, cat 6. wires, jumbo frames default, raid 5.

any ideas why tis Buffalo terrastation is so slow?

 test the real network speed, connect the TeraStation to a PC directly with a GigaBit network card and a GigaBit capable network cable.
Before you start a speed test, do a factory reset on the unit's web interface.

Also you might want to check in VMWare website if the Terrastation is compatable with the Vm ware, ESXi 5.1

We have done some testing and the conclusion is that the network speed of the nic`s from the Terrastation are ok. 

The problem is the write speed to the disks, in raid 5 or no raid, it is writing at a speed of 6 a 7 mbps, reading is ok, about 45 mbps.

The question is why is the writing speed so slow... We tested it without Vm ware or ESXi.
