Title: Can I shut down NAS while RAID Array is in "Checking" Status?
Post by: WA2FAST on October 10, 2012, 10:09:02 AM

I just purchassed a LinkStation Pro 4tb (LS-WV4.0TL/R1) and right out of the box updated the firmware to the latest 1.62 (it shipped with 1.61) and set the RAID configuration to RAID 1.  Everything went fine and now the status of the RAID array is: "Checking".  This is going to take some 10.5hrs to complete.  Will I be able to shut the NAS down durring this process or do I need to wait for this to complete first?  I noticed that the switch in the back of the NAS does a "soft" powerdown, it doesn't just kill power, so I'm thinking that it will be okay to shut down, but I want to make sure before having to go through with all of this again.  Any advise is greatly appreciated, thank you.

This is normai when changing the RAID from 0 to 1.

It is not recommended you shut down the unit until it is completed as it can corrupt the RAID.
