Title: Buffalonas.com returning wrong IP
Post by: STRMB on October 06, 2012, 12:25:29 AM

I set up a new Linkstation, enabled Webaccess through buffalonas.com, turned on port forwarding on my (Cisco E2000) router, and everything worked fine when I accessed my - at least for a couple of days. Then, the link buffalonas.com/mynas link stopped working and I could not get it to work again yet. The link now translates into 0.0.0.0.:9000 instead of my correct external (static) IP address. The port # is correct, but the IP just reverts to 0.0.0.0.

I disabled Webaccess several times, restarted the NAS and my router, and registered at buffalonas.com under a different NAS name, but always get the same result. When I manually enter the IP address and port, I can access the box just fine from inside my network or remotely. Any advise or pointers are appreciated!

I have a very similar situation. Setup is:

Linkstation LS-WXL

Router: BT Home Hub 3.0

I have previously had web access via buffalonas.com but after recently replacing BT Home Hub (due to previous one developing a fault) and upgrading Linkstation Firmware to latest (1.64) this no longer works.

Specifically, if I go to buffalonas.com and enter my NAS name I get a webpage saying:

This web page is not available

The web page at http://0.0.0.0:31496/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

I take this to mean that the buffalonas.com server is unable to obtain the IP address of my home network. I can access the web interface on my NAS by going to:

XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:31496

where XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX is the IP address of my home network. So I know the NAS is working.

What isn't working is the system that tells buffalonas.com the IP address of my home network. Interestingly, I can't enable 'Auto Configure Firewall'. When I click on Save I just get the 'Saving' progress bar and eventually it times out. The BT Home Hub definitely supports uPNP Firewall settings (I had it working just a week or two ago) and I have checked that the firmware on the BT Home Hub is up to date (like the old one before it got returned).

I am a bit stumped now.

Any ideas?

Matt

Reset the Linkstaiton to factory defaults via the admin page and then reconfigure the web access service.

ive tried resetting to factory settings several times with no joy.

it seems to be a fairly common problem. is it to do with my router maybe? or my ISP?
