Title: Install Windows Home Server 2011 on CS-WX4?
Post by: RoTuLoR on September 26, 2012, 10:04:01 AM

I'm fed-up with the closed Linux based operating system on my Cloudstation CS-WX4. My primary reason for wanting to change is the fact I can't install Serviio on my NAS, in order to stream my movies towards my Samsung 7000 tv. I feel deceived by the publicity announcing Buffalo being DLNA. I'm not confident enough to install a Linux based freeware OS and I don't care about losing my warranty.

Is it technically possible for me to install Windows Home Server 2011 on my NAS?

When did Buffalo ever say that the Cloudstor was DLNA compatible? And uh... I really think that even thinking about installing even another OS on there is a bad idea, alone a server OS. I can't even get the Cloudstor to take the LinkStation firmware, so good luck man.

To the best of my knowledge, Buffalo HAS apologised in the past for the clearly misleading publicity made qualifying the Cloudstor CS-WX4.0T as 'DNLA certified'.

Thing is, I bought this NAS in April, because of the DNLA compatibility. Last week I purchased a (DNLA certified) Samsung 7000 tv and BluRay player, expecting to be able to stream my downloaded movies. Big frustration indeed. I'm just looking for a solution to my problem, and I was thinking installing WHS 2011 might have been a valid option.
