Title: Copying Files From 1 HD to another HD on a Terrastation - Very Slow
Post by: pacuk01 on September 24, 2012, 03:34:17 PM

I am very new to all this. I have had a Buffalo Terrastation now for over a year. Model No:TS-WXL199  Firmware:1.20  2 x 1TB Drives

One of my drives with in the NAS is now getting near full, so I thought I would do some tidying up. I was trying to transfer files between 1HD and another within the station. I am getting stupid copying speed, which seem unbelievably slow....well in fact I think my commodore amiga worked at higher speeds!!  How come the copying speeds between two drives within the same unit are so slow, is there anyway I can speed up the process.  I have tried playing around with a few settings within the sytem, adn now the copying speed has gone up from 28 kb/s to 1.2mb/s but copying a 100gig of data is going to take days.   Is there anything  I can do to improve the copying speed.  I am running windows 7 on my laptop. My router is a BT modem 3.
