I've seen it stated several times that the Bittorrent client on the Linkstation sucks because you can't select the priority for set a partial download on a torrent.
As of the last couple of firmware releases, I know this to not be true.
Also, the Bittorrent Web UI AddOn for FireFox really makes using the NAS as a torrent client work great.

Here's how to set HIGH or SKIP Priority on a single file in a torrent.
Using a modern web browser, navigate to the embedded Bit-Torrent client Web Administration page for your device, and, if necessary, log in.
In the list of active torrents. click on a torrent that has found a seed or peer.
On the bottom of the page, the general tab will display information about the torrent.
Go across the tabs located there, and click on the files tab, to display the files in the torrent.
Here's the tricky bit. DO NOT right click on the file name and attempt to change the priority or anything else, that pop up menu is unimplemented, non-intuitive, I know.
Instead, go to the priority column for the file in question, it's the last columb in the row.
Now CLICK the word in the priority column.
It's a toggle, and it switches from normal. to high, to skip, to low, to normal, and so on.
And that's how it's done, at least on my WXL with the 1.60 firmware, but I'm pretty sure I could do this from the start, and I know I started with lower firmware.
BTW, if a seed or a peer has not been found, the torrent may not have allocated files yet, and the file list will be empty.
Now, if Buffalo would do something about the OLD disabled version of SMABA they use, it would be great.
