Title: Web access is not available
Post by: Nicolailnp on September 08, 2012, 07:40:53 AM

Hi,

I have a Linkstation HS-DH500GL and when I enter the settings, there is no option for 'Web Access'. How do enable this functionality?

I figured it out. It just needed a firmware-update. However, I haven't managed to get web access working yet. It says "Port forwarding failed. Use manual setup."

I have tried that. Used port 9000 (for both start and end port), and now I get this message: "The account name chosen has either already been taken by another device, or the passwd entered is incorrect. Please try another name and/or passwd"

However, I have tried several name/password combinations without luck, so this is surely not the problem, but I do keep getting the same message.

Any solution for that? My modem/router is a NETGEAR CG3000.

Reset the Linkstation to Factory defaults and then setup web access again from scratch (Maintanence -> Initalization -> Restore Linkstation to Defaults)

That seemed to work. I now get the message "Settings have been successfully committed to memory."

However, whenever I try to connect to the Linkstation from Buffalonas.com by writing the web access name, a dialog box appears and asks for name and password, which seem to be neither the web access name/password or the login/password for the linkstation.

What to do next? :)

for setting up the individual shares on web access what do you have set? Allow Annoymous or allow all groups / users or use inherited folder permissions?

In the Folders Setup for Web Access it is currently set to "Allow all groups/users".

If you're using access restrictions on the shares then change it to use inherited folder permissions, if not then select allow annoymous.

Selected Allow Anonymous and that worked!

However, I do not want everyone to be able to access my linkstation, so can I add a Password. At the moment only the name needs be typed in order to access the linkstation and I find this a bit disturbing.
