Title: Access permission to sub folders and files in shared folder
Post by: chairuou on September 07, 2012, 03:21:45 AM

Dear all,

My TeraStation II Pro joined to AD, I have share folder name SHARE_1 inside it I have several files and folders like
SHARE_1
|
+--------Share_1_1
|
+--------Share_1_2
|---file1
|---file2

Is there anyway to prevent user got Read/Write permission on SHARE_1 can not delete files and folders inside its like can not delete Share_1_1.... but stil can create new folder / file and modify/append data to existing folders and files?

This can be done if share folder on Windows server but I tried but no luck to make it work on share folder of TeraStation. I tried to connect to shared folder from a Windows server then create subfolder and use Window to change permission but only set permission access or not. Can not set it to prevent delete subfolder and file.
If has any method to do this, please share with me.

Thanks in advance!

No, permissions can only be set on the root share, any subfolder / file will then inherit the same permission from the parent share.
