Title: Always prompt for user and password when access NAS from Windows 2003 server
Post by: chairuou on September 04, 2012, 05:21:42 AM

Hi all,

I got a TS-RHTGL/R5 with 4Hard disk and configured disk array as RAID-5 few days ago, success to join it to AD with DC on Windows 2003 R2. AD users & groups are populated when brow User/ Group from Web management interface, can create share folder and assign access permission to AD's users/groups. However, when try to access share folder from Windows, 1st time it's browse share folder on NAS as normal, after I change some configuration and NAS restart the file system service, every time I try to browse shared folder again, Windows display a dialog and asking for user/pass word but when enter user & password it still reject to connect with error message:

1st it's display :

The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different user name and password. To connect using a different user name and password, first disconnect any existing mapping to this network share.

And after click OK, if display another message:

The mapped network drive could not be created because the following error has occurred:
Multiple connections to a server or shared resoure by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resources and try again.

Does anybody know what caused this error and how to fix it?

Thank you in advance!

P.s: My LAN are 35 PC running Windows XP Pro SP3, some Mac running Mac OS X and Domain controller and some servers running another services like WSUS, Printing... all running Windows 2003 Server R2.

So, on the PC you are having an issue with, are there any existing mapped shares?

Davo,

I am sure no existing mapped drive / name to shared folder from PC to NAS. That's make me have no clue.

Brian,

At that time, I've checked the connection by NET USE command already. However, after leave it for a night, it accept connection again but I don't do anything that make file service restart on TS anymore. The Access Restriction is enabled.

Another disappointed with this product is it only can set access permission on root folder.

I'm in Vietnam so can not return to seller like in another country, so considered that I'm bad luck to buy a useless product. Not recommended this product for any serious business.
