Title: TS-RX8.0TL/R5 & Win7 & Files >4GB
Post by: MIP on August 31, 2012, 07:24:11 AM

Good afternoon,

we have a Terastation TS-RX8.0TL/R5 with latest firmware (1.57). Connected via two trunked 100MBit connections to a HP Switch, User-Authentication via AD.

If I connect with a unix client via NFS to the NAS I can upload file >20GB, no problem.

If I connect via SMB with a Win7(64bit, local Harddisk: NTFS) client to the NAS I cannot upload files >= 4GB. With Windows explorer I get message that destination is not available anymore after upload of ~500GB. If I use something like Total Commander I can see that all bytes are transferred to NAS, but I get an error message that TC cannot write anymore and I should remove write protection on destination file.

Since via NFS uploads >4GB ar possible the problem is not the filesystem on TErastation (BTW: xfs), but I have no clue if the SMB part of the Terastation or the windows7 client is the problem.

Has anyone ever see any similar phenomen in the wild ?

Many thanks in advance - Michael
