Title: Buffalo Raid Linkstation Flashing Red
Post by: Guy007 on August 29, 2012, 04:03:50 PM

I have a buffalo drive which was connected to my router and working fine up to some days ago.  It now stopped working, and is flashing a red exclamation mark in front - 6 times then pauses.  It is not showing up in NAS Navigator.  Initially I could ping it by IP, but not by name, but now I cannot even ping it (presumably the IP changed when i tried resetting it). Can you please tell me what I can try to do to get it to work and, most importantly, how I can get my data off the disk if the unit doesn't work any more!!!  It uses raid, so hopefully at least one of the drive works!

Follow FAQ 3 of 5 in the storage section to recover the unit.

I followed FAQ 3 and it appeared as EM mode.  I couldn't do anything to it but. I followed FAQ 2 as suggested to update the firmware. Now it doesn't even flash the power button when it turns on!  I really need to get to that data :( I care more about that than the device itself!  I opened the unit and connected a drive to my computer using a sata cable, but it isn't recognising it since my pc is windows and the hard disk is XFS. How can i read this data if it still exists?! :(
