Title: DriveStation ECO 500 Gb --> partition corrupted to RAW
Post by: VesaLempinen on January 29, 2009, 07:31:55 AM

Hello ! my Client bought a Drivestation ECO 500Gb. Today he came back with the drive telling that i does not work properly. Well i checked the drive status and windows XP told me --> volume label F: is not formatted, do you want to format it now ?

Disk properties says file rormat is RAW.

I asked has client unplugged the drive without "safely removing" it from the system, he said no, because he has desktop workstation that he uses only with the drivestation,no need to use it anywhere else.

What i´m more interested what issues could cause these problems ?

Many issues can cause data/filesystem corruption. The most common is the one you suspected, but others include power loss, viruses, or hardware failure. Try formatting it, and if it happens again, there may be a hardware issue at fault.
