We are using model LS-WTGL/R1, f/w 1.07.
On our LAN we use this as a file server and have no problem mapping drives, etc.
When we use it remotely through buffalonas.com, we can connect with no problem and see all our files, but we are not able to oipen them and use them as we do on the LAN. We can't, for instance, create a new Word file and then store it on the Linkstation in one of its volumes.
Our goal in using this device was to have a seamless operation with it online just as we do on our LAN.
Is there a solution for this, or are we just missing something that we should know?
Thanks for any help.
If I got you right, when you are in the WAN (ie outside your LAN), through Web Access you are able to download to your computer from Buffalo but not able to upload to Buffalo from your computer. This is according to Buffalo specs, so it is not possible to upload. Yet, as Buffalo says.
I am using a specific software, LogMeIn, to connect to one computer in my LAN from WAN and connect all drives so I can transfer anything between them. Of course you then need one computer always on at your LAN.
Thanks for your response and for confirming that I can't upload directly to our LinkStation in a WAN environment.
I have heard of LogMeIn. How difficult is it to set up and use? Right now I use Gotomypc.com, but that's $20/month. Would like to find an easier way without paying for static IP and setting up VPN.
Thanks again.
