Title: Firmware v 1.60 Constant drop outs and other issues
Post by: JonnoM77 on July 30, 2012, 10:35:47 PM

Hi All,

This is my first post so please do not flame me if I mention something incorrect or that has previously been addressed. I need HELP.

I recently purchased purchased Linkstation Pro and have been very disappointed. I purchased this device because of its all round functionality, media server, Itunes server, backup (time machine) and both apple and windows supported, (my wife uses apple, myself windows) and for remote access via my iPad.

So far I have discovered that:

I am really regretting this purchase and are extremely frustrated. Can somebody please tell me if there is a fix or a planned firmware upgrade for the issues experienced by 1.60. Is there a way to roll back firmware? (although I was unable to get the media server working under 1.58).

Is there a fix for the Time machine issue?

And why is the device so slow in tansferring files? My setup at home is:

Finally, I have read about people using Twonky Media as their DLNA media server rather than the default Buffallo. Is Twonky already actually the default software the Buffalo is employing or not? If not what is the main advantage to using Twonky and is there an install guide?

It seems that Buffallo have similar issues across all their NAS product range. If things cant be fixed I will recommend to people that they steer clear of purchasing Buffalo products.

One more thing guys, I am trying to transfer files from the linkstation to a USB stick connect directly to the USB port in the back of the Linkstation. Again a 400MB file and it says it wil take 1hour 50mins? What the? Would this have somwething to do with the data needing to be transferred bcal to my pc and through the USB Navigator software. Sorry for my ignorance. Something does not seem right.

Hello

My set up is

Mac Book Pro

Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.1

LinkStation LS-WV6.0TL/R1

Firmware 1.60

Itunes 10.7(21) 64 Bit

I noticed that my Linkstation does not appear anymore in the Itunes like it used to be. I have not checked since June of this year so I cannnot say what has been caused this issue (new OSX in August, new Itunes last week, new Firmware yesterday) but obviouly one of those updates has caused the issue.

You seem to say it is an Apple Itunes issue ? Some people seems to have those issued with different brands of NAS so why not but it would not surpised me either that the firmware is not 100% compatible with Mountain or the New Itunes.

Can I have the answer from one Buffalo engineer regarding this issue ? Is it a known issue with the latest updates like I have ? Should a Restore Factory Default help or is it a real bug ?

Thanks and Regards

P.
