Title: Ministation 250gb issues with macbook
Post by: groupbmonster on January 26, 2009, 09:32:56 PM

im running a macbook on tiger 10.4 and when i plug my new ministation in the green light comes on but the computer doesn't recognize it. i tried the apple+opt+p+r and waited for 3 chimes but got the same results.

any other ideas? i have a windows machine in the house too if hooking it up there for any reformatting would be necessary or whatever.

thanks in advance, this thing was such a deal i don't wanna return it!

This seems to be an issue, I just purchased a Ministation 120 gig drive. It is not recognized by either my Mac, windows XP or Vista Machines. There must be a solution that Buffalo can advise us of. Please advise, I have searched the net, but have not found a solution that I am comfortable making.

I have spent approximately 5 hours over 2 days. I have tried it on a 4 laptops and 2 desktops in two different locations running windows XP and Vista and on a iMac. I am perplexed. It is the same problem on all the windows machines and I can not find that the drive is even recognized on the Mac. I probably should have gone to Walmart and bought something, at least it would have been easier to return. The next idea is take it to the IT Department at my sons college and let them try. Unfortunately, Buffalo support has been limited.

After waiting 30 minutes again this afternoon, I spoke with Paul in Tech Support - He was a big help and solved the problem in 5 minutes. I'm not a tech so I won't try to explain, but several steps and the problem was solved.

Paul deserves a credit for being professional, courteous, and very helpful.

Problem for me anyway was solved.
