Title: LinkStation Quad - Questions, iTunes and Remote access

Hi Guys,

Just unpacked my new NAS...

Configuring it and testing it, and ran into some questions:

1) iTunes, I can get it to show on my shared libraries (home), but I am wondering how I can enable this for remote access (office)? Can this be done?

2) Remote back up, I have many other computers at different places, (not local network) can I use timemachine (mac) or MS backup? How can I mount these shares?

rizzo,

1) Unfortunately, there is no way to access/build your iTunes library remotely with the NAS device. It hasn't been tested but you can try the method that is linked below.

2) With remote backup would you happen to be using backup/Time Machine remotely? If so, then setting up a device to communicate via VPN is kind of sketchy but it might be possible with this method. Although, it is a TeraStation to TeraStation backup I believe the principles are the same.

Gees this is not at all what the guys over at dell were telling me.

Welll I really need a better way to back up remotely and sharring itunes would be a nice addition.

I will have to see if they will take it back with out the 15% re stock fee.
