Title: Smart TV Wont play MKV files via linkstation
Post by: sirmontal on June 19, 2012, 11:25:49 PM

Hi all

I have purched the linkstation quad and have installed a 500gb hardrive in it.  I also have a samsung smart tv es8000 (current model) and it plays all file formats ive thrown at it including MKV files via allshare.

HOwever, now that i want to play the same movie files through the linkstation, it either doesnt play it at all saying 'unsupported file type' or it has played 1 mkv file but it doesnt have sound.

Im a bit of a newbie to this all so please help and if possible, explain in laemans terms :)

Thx

S

Thanks very much for the reply.

IS there another NAS product that does play MKV files?

Smart TV Wont play MKV files via linkstation

I have a new Samsung 7 series LCD TV and just purchased an LS-X2  NAS drive

and also just upgraded the firmware to 1.64

My reason for the purchase was to stream mainly mkv files to the tv which I have been doing for a while without problems from an external usb hdd

as soon as I try to access the same mkv videos on the nas drive, the tv says unsupported file and thinks it to be a video/x-matroska where as from the usb hddit thinks it is a video/x-msvideo and works fine.

The NAS drive media server needs to reinterpret the file format. How can I achieve this

Cheers

JBJ

This is not on the NAS side. My Samsung will play MKV files from a TeraStation with no problem. The media player on my Roku can't decode the audio stream. This is on the decoder, not the NAS.

not the NAS.

my Samsung LT27B750 (model 2012) and UE48H6350 (model 2014) no problem.

Password reset LS-XL Any help out there.
My nas drive works fine sharing mp3 files with my Sonos 5 but today I wanted to make use of the ftp server with cameras but my username and password and not working. Very strange. Is there a way to reset it. I know the username is admin.
Thanks
