Title: how to acquire an IP?
Post by: kurkista on January 25, 2009, 09:29:49 AM

Hello!

my LS Pro2 (LS-W1.0TGL/R1-V3) has only an internal IP address (10.0.1.xxx), so currently I can access the LS only at home through my wireless network.

I've tried to renew the IP through NASNavigator2 (2.02), but without luck. I've configured the LS through the web form (accessible through NASNavigator) and even there the LS is given just the internal IP address. So at home when I go to www.buffalonas.com and log in I actually log in at 10.1.0.xxx. And logging in from let's say work results in an error prompt.

The LS connects to my iMac (2.8Gh Intel, OS10.5.5) in my working room over an AirPort Extreme (v.7.3.2) (and Motorola cable modem). LS' firmware 3.0.

So how do I get a proper Ip so I can access my LS from outside my home network?

Thanks for any help.

The IP that is registered with buffalonas.com is your "outside IP", which is the IP give to you by your internet provide. It is not the IP given by your router. In the Web Access tab under Service Setup, you may need to specify what port to use. Choose Disable on "Auto-Configure Firewall (UPnP)" and specify a specific Port to use. I recommend port 9000. Then, in your router, make sure you have Port 9000 forwarded to the IP address of the LinkStation (the 10.1.x.x).
