Manual Router Config
« on: July 31, 2010, 05:33:02 AM »
Ok... Got a new router to replace an old one. I am trying to enable web access. It says to go to a manual config. What do I need to configure?

You need to configure the port you used for web access as a TCP protocol within the port forwarding section of the router

How do you know what port to route to? How do you change or see the port?

I cant tell you that information at the moment as seeing you have not provided any details on your router.  I do not know if it is Buffalo, or a different company.  Also what you forward to is what you set up on the NAS device under the web access screen, Buffalo recommmends port 9000

Setting up web access can be completed in the web interface, choose to enable it, than choose use buffalonas.com create a name and password, diable the UPnP, set the in/out port to 9000. For the router itself you will need to contact either online resources if it is a different company than Buffalo or contact the mfgr technical support line to have them assist you with forwarding port 9000

No matter what I try, this is what I Get:

UPnP Gateway not found and/or doesn't support port forwarding, use manual setup.

I turned off UPNP and here is my port forward page (I changed the Buffalo NAS Key to 00000 and the IP to 200.2 to symbolize the IP of the NAS, not going to put the actual IP online):

Yes, I know it is 9090... here is the config on the Linkstation I cannot get to work.

Looks like I needed to uncheck UPnP on the Lionkstation... not just the Router.
