HD-PX500U2 is not detectable
« on: December 04, 2010, 07:13:17 PM »

Dear all experts, I'm having a problem in detecting my buffalo ministation.

It was previously accesible, but suddenly not detectable at all:

- blue LED lites 3 times once plugged in

- some sequence of tones is listen repeatedly(5 times i think)if you put on ear near the HDD

- HDD is not spinning

- not seen in window explorer

- not seen in disk management

I have some important data inside, I hope they are not destroyed... praypraypray....

Do you think what are the possible causes and any solution of this?

Might it be:

- interface problem(USB cable is broken)

- firmware issue (but i disable the securilock all the while, din't use turboUSB too)

- hardware defect

Is there a way for me to open the casing? Probably I can try to see its internal and port to another housing.

Any advice??? Would be appreciated!

At this point I would try another pc or you would have to take the disk out of the case and see if the drive itself is still intact.

Yeah, so the only thing left would be to take the drive out of the case to get to your data. This will void any warranty though. :I don't know how to take it apart. Others users may though.
