Just bought a Buffallo-2Tbte USB 3.0 Hard Drive - Question ?

Is it OK to store this Hard Drive lying flat on its side while it is switched on and writing and receiving data ?

 

I ask this because it would be more convenient for me to leave the drive lying flat on top of my desktop rather than have it sitting upright .
