Hello everyone!
Im evaluating the purchase of a linkstation pro 1.5 -2 TB and would like to have some tech info, just to be sure before spending the money
.
Im planning to use it to stream video files on 2 TV's : 1 is DLna compliant, so i wont have problems i suppose.
On the other TV i will use as streamer my old PS2, using the software called SMS media player.
Does anyone can confirm me it will work via SMB -cifs?
Have you ever had any positive feedback on this?
I hope i posted it on the right place :-)
thanks and regards!
no answer yet?
What you described should work, but it largely depends on the SMS Media Player program.
If it accesses data over the network via the SMB protocol, it should work fine. The shares on the linkstation should show up with no issues.
i have another questions.
about download, is the PRO able to download only from BT or does it supports also links like Megaupload, rapidshare etc ?
i read somewhere that only BT is enabled.... that's a pity for such a powerful machine
its the PRO , if im not wrong the code is LS-XHL
Only BT, no RS/MU etc
that's a pity, i tought that with such a powerful hardware users could do more.....
I have another question: how do i check the integrated HDD health?
i mean, if it's failing how can i know? i searched for a S.M.A.R.T. section but did not find it
any help on how to implement the SMART functionality would be greatly appreciated... thanks
up for my question about S.M.A.R.T :smileyvery-happy:

What exactly are you refering to?
I own a LS-XHL pro 1 TB with firmware 1.24 (don't want to upgrade) and i would like to know if the SMART parameters are visible somewhere inside the web admin page
dont know what you are refering to so id say no, they are not available
it's the list of parameters that try to predict when your internal disk is going to fail
HSH,
To my knowledge, there is no way to access the SMART data on the internal HDD of the LS-XHL. None of our units have that feature, unfortunately.
If SMART is going to lull you into a sence of security as to whether you should be vigilant with backups, you're better off without it anyway. My 2TB LS-Pro (LS-XHL) backs itself up with incremental backups nightly to an attached 2TB USB drive that cost me about $100. That's worth a lot more than SMART. SMART only predicts with a degree of probability. It doesn't guarantee.
