In trying to locate the problem, I unhooked the router and connected my pc directly to my DSL modem. Wow, what a difference in speed!
I ran a speed test at speakeasy, and it stated a 2870Kbps download. When I connect through the router I receive around 1200-1500 Kbps down.
Another thing I noticed is that when connected to the router my downloads seem to stall, when trying to download a clip from YouTube I usually have to pause the video and wait for it to catch up. This is not the case when I am connected to the modem there is no noticable stalling.
Is this typical performance I can expect frommy router?
OK, so it is definitely the router. I dug out and hooked up my old 11.b Speedstream (ss2623, I forgot I even had this) router. Not only did my Wii connect and download properly; I tested my download speed and I am consistantly gettining 2800+ kbps. Right where I should be. I also haven't experienced and "stalls" or dropouts.
So, I guess I'm in the market for a new wireless router and it won't be a Buffalo product. Sorry!
