I have a Buffalo WHR-G300N V2 and most of the time, when I try to connect with my Macbook or iMac, I get the following message in a window:
"To view this page, you must log in to area “AirStation” on 192.168.11.1:80."
followed by (if I enter nothing):
"AUTHORIZATION ERROR
CAUTION
1.The user name is "root".
2.Check uppercase or lowercase in the password."
or followed by a wizard that shows up when entering "root" as username and the wizard then tells me there's a problem with my internet connection cable.
Funnily enough, this *NEVER* happens with Windows 7 PC's connecting to the same WLAN!
BTW, we have 2 Buffalo routers (one downstairs and one upstairs) and the same thing happens with both, so it seems to be a Mac<->Buffalo router problem, and not a broken router.
Furthermore, I must stress out that this problem only happens since some time, it wasn't the case a few months ago.
Firrmware versions on the arstations and which mac os version ?

I never changed firmware. How do I get firmware version?
OSX versions were: 10.6.0 and 10.8.2
Log onto the web admin page -> Diagnostics. Firmware version will be 1.xx
How do I access this page?
Typing in http://192.168.11.1 doesn't work.
on your first post you said you are requested for a username/password?! Once you get this request then enter root/no password (leave it blank)
If not then reset the router.
The router would automatically go to 192.168.11.1, without me typing it in. And yes, I entered username = root, and then it would say something like "check internet cable" and there were no other possible choices.
I am assuming you are trying to log on to the router from the Mac, try logging on to the routers web page from windows machine and get the firmware version that way.
Makes no difference! Nothing happens when typing in 192.168.11.1 on windows!

on windows, go to Network connections, double click on the connection that is on, click on Details.
IPv4 Default Gateway should be ur router's ip.
type that ip into the browser.
Ok, This is spiralling out of control, There should be a swithch behind the router what position it is on,
Also you have 2 buffalo airstations, how are they connected on the network, as much detail as possible, please.
The default gateway is: 192.168.178.1 which is my FritzBox. The FritzBox is the main DSL router to which both AirStations are connected via Ethernet cables.
Try 192.168.11.100 to access the routers
You need to change ip range of your PC to match as well, make sure you are connected to the airstation via cable
